Hands‑On Training to Build Technical and Creative Skills

Mohammad Al‑Alloush, head of the media office at the directorate, explained that the workshop focuses on practical training designed to equip participants with the ability to develop executable documentary projects. The sessions cover idea development, scriptwriting fundamentals, production techniques, and editing skills, offering a comprehensive understanding of the documentary workflow.

Producing a Short Documentary as a Practical Outcome

Director Anis Hamdoun stated that the main goal of the workshop is to produce a short documentary film as a practical project, allowing participants to experience the full creative process. He emphasized the importance of independent documentary cinema, which relies on the filmmaker’s vision and ability to present a clear and compelling idea without requiring major technical resources or institutional backing.

Youth Passion Driving Creative Expression

Participant Rawan Al‑Khwailid expressed her excitement about joining the workshop, driven by her passion for cinema. She described documentary filmmaking as an art that blends creativity with documentation, enabling storytellers to present events in innovative and inspiring ways capable of influencing change.

Part of a Broader Cultural Movement in Homs

This workshop is part of a series of activities organized by the Homs Culture Directorate to strengthen cultural and artistic engagement, empower youth with modern creative tools, and expand the presence of documentary cinema as an effective medium for portraying reality and delivering meaningful social messages.
